Alvin E. Pierce

Alvin E. Pierce of Elm, NJ, (formerly of Berlin, NJ) passed peacefully on August 21, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Grace Pierce (nee Merlino). Father of Allene Wallace and Collene Moxford (James). Stepfather to Patricia Shaw, Susan Finocchiaro, James Murray, and Kathleen DiGiovanni. Caring grandfather of Steven, Justine, Roman and the late Rylan, Anna, and Luke. Great Grandfather of Wyatt, Weston and William. Al is survived by many other family and friends. He is predeceased by his brothers and sister, Bernadine Green, Joseph, Robert, William, Woodruff and John.

Al served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired after working 35 years as a traffic/warehouse manager for Owens Corning Fiberglass. Al assisted his community for many years as a volunteer firefighter with the Berlin Fire Company No. 1. He held the positions of 1st. Assistant Chief, 2nd. Assistant Chief, Lieutenant, Engineer, and Assistant Engineer. He served on the Board of Directors for the Fire Department for many years and was the Chairman of the Board for two years. He was a Life Member of the Department and an Exempt Member of the NJ State Firemen’s Relief Association. Al was also a member of the New Jersey State Forest Fire Service. He was a member of the Palmyra String Band and served many years on the Board of the Elmtowne Village Association. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, August 28, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00pm. Military Honors followed by entombment will be held at the Berlin Cemetery Mausoleum, Clementon Rd., Berlin, NJ. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Al’s name to the Berlin Fire Company No. 1, 221 S. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ 08009.
