John William Hicks

John W. Hicks, Jr., age 67, of Atco, NJ, passed away after a yearlong battle with cancer on Thursday November 26, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. Beloved significant other of Tammy Lyn Marchesani. Loving brother of Marianne E. Nolan (Brian), Robert T. Hicks, Dianne M. McCollum (David), and Stephanie A. Cook (David). Proud uncle of Erin Leinhauser (Sean), Patrick Nolan, Sean and Thomas McCollum, and Allison, Jeremy and Jonathan Cook. Dear cousin of Jan Hines and Eileen Vassalluzzo. John is also survived and will be sadly missed by Tammy’s children Mitchell, Maverick, and Montanna (Tony); and grandchildren Magdalena and Nicolino. John has been a resident of Atco since 2003. John worked as a Premium Auditor for over 30 years. He was a parishioner of Christ the Redeemer Parish – Assumption Church. He volunteered at bingo and served meals at the Cathedral Kitchen in Camden. He was a member of the church choir and was also active for a number of years in the Diocese of Camden choir, God’s Perfect Harmony. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Shane’s Castle Council #7463. John enjoyed watching old, classic movies and going to concerts of his favorite bands. He loved to talk and joke with his family and friends, frequently breaking into song whether the lyrics were made up or not! ‘Buddyeeee’ was always a common greeting from John so many could depend on. Also ‘Pal’ was a cherished salutation for family members. The viewing will be held on Monday December 28, 2020 from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Leroy P. Wooster Funeral Home and Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am on Monday at Christ the Redeemer Parish – Assumption Church, 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr., Atco, NJ. Interment will follow mass at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cedar Brook, NJ. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations in his name be made to the American Cancer Society.
