Bruce Joseph Affrunti, 63 yrs., passed away on Saturday, March 4th in Winslow Township. He was born to the late Francis and Ethel Affrunti (nee Rattinger) in Hammonton, NJ in 1954. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1972. He was a Collegiate All American for Atlantic Cape Community College in 1976 and went on to become the Assistant Archery Coach of Atlantic Cape Community College where he remained for 23 years. Throughout the 1980's and 1990's, he served as the Team Manager of the United States National Archery Team. It 1992, right after the fall of the Soviet Union, he lead the first American athletes to compete in Russia when he led the U.S. National Archery Team to participate in the "Goodwill Games" in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Bruce devoted his 30 year career to caring for others with dignity and respect at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital. During his career he worked as a social worker, advocate and administrator.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Burns; loving son, Chad Affrunti and wife Rachel; brothers, Frank Affrunti and Doughlas Affrunti; beloved uncle of Frank, Jr., Michelle, Sherri, Adam and Christina.
Family and friends are invited to Bruce’s visitation on Monday, March 13th from 5pm-7pm at LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ. A funeral service will immediately follow. Cremation will be held private to the family. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Ancora Psychiatric Hospital Patient Welfare Fund, c/o Ancora Hospital, 301 Spring Garden Road, Hammonton, NJ 08037.
