Jimmy was born on May 18th, 1943 to his mother Louisa Vitu Smith and father Charles Wimbledon Benjamin Thomas, in Mau Quarry Navua, Fiji. Jimmy was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole Marie Snuka (nee. Jennings), his children James Jr., Liana, Sarona, and Ata, Bridget, Richard, and Dennis. He had 19 grandchildren.
Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka touched many lives throughout his legendary professional wrestling career, which spanned nearly five decades. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996, the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2012, along with many more independent Hall of Fames throughout the years. His dedication to his fans and contributions to the wrestling world will never be duplicated.
As impressive as he was in the ring, he was even more impressive as a man. Jimmy had an amazing talent of making everyone feel special. He called everyone “bruddah” because he truly loved everyone like a brother. Jimmy showed everyone unconditional love, from family, to strangers, to animals. Jimmy would light up the room just by walking in. He will be deeply missed, but will forever remain in our hearts, as we carry out his legacy as not only an amazing wrestler, but the incredible man he was. He is now free to fly as high as he’s always dreamed.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, March 9th at 10:00 am, followed by Mass at 11:00 am at Christ the Redeemer Church in Atco, NJ 08004
